RAB Award 2025: Foster was awarded a work placement.
“I was awarded a financial grant towards the purchase of tools. I acquired several files, blades, thumb planes, purfling tools, and thicknessing calipers. Before receiving this grant I was relegated to shared shop tools, which I often found to be neglected and unfamiliar. My RAB trust grant gave me a set of personal tools that I can maintain, modify, and grow into. These tools greatly enhanced my work in the second half of the year as I completed my bass viol, and they helped me transition into a summer job at a violin repair shop. When I complete my studies and start to set up my own shop, these tools will be my cornerstone.”
