RAB Award 2025: Ben was awarded funding for the book “Stradivari Varnish” by Brandmair/Greiner and a work placement with Harry Strong, cello maker.
Ben wrote this about his experience:
“The RAB trust secured a work placement with Harry Strong for me. I had a great week working with him and being shown the the processes and skills involved in cello setup. He showed me how to do a new fingerboard, nut and bridge as well as some soundpost adjustment. We had time to try some different strings as well as discuss varnish and cello making in general.
This work experience has allowed me to hit the ground running after graduating from NSVM and has inspired me to keep improving with every instrument.”
Education Services Award/RAB Trust Award 2023:
Ben was awarded funding from Education Services for a spiral reamer, a mandrel, and repair tools, plus a donated reamer and peg shapers from the RAB Trust.
