Emmanuel Ouvry

Emmanuel writes of his award:

In summer 2011, straight after graduating from NSVM I got the chance to have a week’s work experience at Matthew and David Coltman’s bow workshop in Chiswick, London where I learnt rehairing and the most common tasks involved with the maintenance of bows. I had a great time there and eight years later I can still say it was really useful: I still use (nearly) everyday the same techniques that I learnt there. When I left, Matthew and David also kindly gave me some material for doing my own rehairs at home, and for building the few tools or jigs I would need.
I want to thank them very much here, as well as the RAB trust for the real chance they give to so many new luthiers, playing an essential role in their training. I am convinced of it and if one day I run my own workshop I’ll make sure to remember about offering such opportunities.
