RAB Trust Award 2025: Work placement with Libby Summers.
“With the support of the RAB Trust I spent three days at Stamford Strings with Libby Summers, learning the process of bow rehairing and gaining insight into life in a professional workshop. The opportunity to observe demonstrations and receive one-to-one guidance from Libby enabled me to quickly move on to completing two rehairs independently. The development of these skills has increased my confidence at the bench, and given me a valuable skill which will benefit me in my professional life moving forward. I also learned about the client-facing side of the profession by observing and assisting in appointments with clients. This placement gave me valuable new perspectives of the range of work within a professional workshop. I’m also incredibly excited that this placement with Libby has led to taking up regular work at Stamford Strings alongside my studies, which will continue to develop my skills in a professional environment.” Rachel Spence on her work placement with Stamford Strings.
