Merton College
Education Services Award 2022
Rui was awarded a work bench to enable him to do more work at home. Here’s what he said about the award:
“This award will be a game changer for me and will allow me to spend many more hours working in my violin making. Thank you for providing such a constant, important and generous support to violin making students, through these awards, the inspiring and invaluable zoom lectures and the opportunity to allow us to attend Lutherie with free entry and travel expenses support.
This also ads a very positive and gentle pressure to make the most out of my studies, to excel and persevere in improving my skills.”
Having completed the move to his new home he wrote:
“How glorious it is to be able to work outside college hours and see my instrument and my development progressing at full speed. I cannot thank the RAB Trust enough for this support that is invaluable, motivating and utterly generous.”
RAB Award 2021:
Rui was awarded funds for finger planes and toothed blades. Having had time to use his new tools, he writes:
“Thanks to the RAB Trust, I was able to acquire these four thumb planes and two toothed blades. I want to thank the RAB Trust for the award that allowed me to acquire such vital tools for violin making. The positive impact that the RAB Trust has on the development of students’ learning and development is quite an extraordinary thing and I couldn’t be more grateful to be a recipient of its meritorious cause.”
